The project
In the heart of Leuven in Belgium
House addition

The property is located near the historic center of Leuven in Belgium. We converted a storage space into living space to gain an extra room for the house.
The three main characteristics of this house are the localization, the luminosity and the proportions! The sunny new floor is divided into a formal living room at the front, a spacious kitchen at the rear, a large family room and a new dining room. The client desire for a "Mountain modern style" house translated into the use of specific materials such as limestone bricks, oak and travertine.

We wanted to make the kitchen a "real open room” in the center of the house! From the kitchen, the glass door who was condemned before provides direct access to the entry hall. In the new dining room facing the garden, the warm stone brick wall is nicely balanced with the oak floor. At the rear the client wanted to have an informal seating area to enjoy the view of the garden. We created a large fixed window adjacent to a very large sliding door for a direct access to the garden. This new space (use to be a storage) invites you to rest and relax.

In the formal dining room, the stone walls add a warmer, more pleasant texture to the room. The new giant sliding doors offer an unobstructed view of the multiple outdoor living spaces. The dining room perfectly balances old-world chalet design sensibility with modern, luxurious comfort!

The bright sunny room adjoining the entrance serves as a reception area but also as a laundry room. The creation of large closets maximizes the storage space
